Darauf folgt eine examine des universalistischen Ansatzes, vertreten durch den wohl schärfsten Kritiker der Ethnophilosophie: Paulin J. Hountondji. Als zusätzlichen Repräsentanten des uni-versalistischen Ansatzes soll der afrikanische Philosoph Kwasi Wiredu mit seinem Werk Philosophy and an African tradition vorgestellt werden. Den Schlussteil der Arbeit bildet eine kritische Gegenüberstellung der beiden Ansätze.
